A community sharing movement

Free herbs, freely shared.

A humble effort to foster and enrich communities, connect neighbors, and provide greater access to healthy food and medicinal herbs β€” inspired by the Little Free Library movement, one shared garden at a time.

Our mission

Connecting communities through the simple act of sharing.

Our mission, plain and simple, is to create connections between neighbors. And in the process help them gain easy access to healthy locally grown food and herbal ingredients, save money and strengthen their communities.

We take obvious inspiration from the Little Free Library movement, with whom we have no affiliation, and aspire to see many Little Free Herbaries pop up in the coming years.

Why herbs?

A small sprig can go a long way.

Herbs have been used the world over for thousands of years β€” for flavoring and garnishing food, and as essential ingredients in medicines, remedies and fragrances. Amongst their purported benefits:

Wellness & care

Rich in antioxidants and nutrients, herbs are used for faster wound healing, easing inflammation, and supporting the immune system.

Flavor & nutrition

A staple of kitchens everywhere, herbs add rich, complex taste along with vitamins and phytosterols to everyday meals.

Abundance & sharing

Home gardeners almost always grow more than they need β€” and most people only need a sprig. A perfect excuse to share.

β€œThis is such an amazing idea! I tried to buy cilantro yesterday from the store and it was sad times, so I may come by for some for my noodle soup.”

β€œArgh!!! I don't want to have to get in the car and go to the market for the one darn sprig of rosemary this recipe calls for!!!”
